Red Hot Sassy Rubber Artists

…a little of this, a little of that…but mostly sharing stamping ideas

Scarecrow on a stick

October18

Somehow that kinda sounds like something you’d get at a state fair food booth….eewwww.  It just just doesn’t sound right (lol).

One of the projects in our Sassy Stampers classes this month was a square flipup card. Splitcoast Stampers has a wonderful tutorial for a CIRCLE flipup album, but my class project was to answer a specific request for a SQUARE card. Luckily I had made a square flipup album many years ago, so I knew what was needed. The original design calls for four cards (or ‘rooms’) that are then adhered back to back, leaving the back cover of the 4th room unadhered, and the front cover of the 1st room unadhered. We made one room in class, but it would be very easy to make three additional rooms and create the full flipup album.

Step 1: On front side, score center of cardstock horizontally and vertically (10-inch square)
Step 2: On inside, cut between two bottom panels, along center vertical score, up to center horizontal score
Step 3: On inside, on bottom right panel, measure down 1/2-inch from center horizontal score, and cut off remaining piece (save scrap to stamp acorn and inside greeting)
Step 4: On 1/2-inch flap, cut each side edge at minimum 45-degree angle
Step 5: On inside, on bottom left panel (floor), score diagonal line from intersection of scores to bottom left corner of floor
Step 6: On inside, stamp, color, and embellish top left and right panels (walls)
Step 7: With inside up, place red sticky tape on the underside of the 1/2-inch flap
Step 8: Bring right flap over to bottom left flap; adhere bottom of 1/2-inch flap to top of right edge of floor
