Unhinged Lamppost Greetings

LOL…how’s that for a catchy title? The card today was inspired by this blog post back in November by Laura Fredrickson (Scrapnextras). Although I absolutely LOVED that stamp set, I knew I would not be buying it and had to come up with an alternative plan.

So I used a stamp from the TAC hostess Level A hinges set (soon to be retired from their Serendipity magalogue) to create a ‘lamp’ post on which to fly a little flag (my ‘message’). I used two different size scallop circle punches to create the bushes. By positioning the punches so they started a little bit inside the scallop circle on the edge of the cardstock, I had a natural flat edge on which to line up all the pieces. Sponge a little green on the bottom of the card and a little blue on the top area of the card…could be darker, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted clean and simple or sponging.

This is a closeup of my hinges card and you can barely see the little pieces of black scrappers floss on the left side of the ‘flag’. The photo below shows the reverse side of the flag and really highlights how I attached the scrappers floss.

This is how I attached my black scrappers floss to give the illusion of the ‘flag’ mounted to the post. The floss is attached to cardstock with just doublesided tape and then I used foam dots to raise up the ‘flag’ itself.
