The easel style of card is a fancy fold. The first time I saw it used was in August 2009 on Splitcoast Stampers, but Penny Wessenhauer has a marvelous JPG instructional handout here. Scroll through the various samples to the 4×4 Easel Card Template diagram. My card is a vertical A2 sized card but the directions to create and adhere the pieces are the same as in Penny’s template diagram. (Her directions will create three 4×4 easel cards from one 12×12 piece of cardstock.) My version uses three sheets of 8.5 x 11 cardstock to create four A2 easel cards. One sheet is cut into quarters and that will be the four top pieces. The other two sheets are cut in half at the 4.25 mark on the 8.5 side, creating four cardbases of 4.25×11. Score these four cardbases at 2.75 and 5.5. Decorate the top piece and the inside of the cardbase. To adhere the top piece to the cardbase, close the cardbase as normal and apply adhesive to the front bottom half (from the 2.75 scoreline to the open edge, not the fold edge). On my card above I centered a strip of ribbon on that front bottom half. Next, position the decorated top piece fully on the cardfront (it will only be adhered to the front bottom half). Finally, wrap the ribbon around the top piece (see photo above).
I used the PWP stamp set Holly Jolly to create a festive background. Outlined the leaves and berries in black micron pen and created little dots down the holly leaf spine.

The inside greeting is popped up on foam dots and that becomes the easel ‘rest’. Wouldn’t this make a great Christmas card with a family photo snuggled under the ribbon on the front?

Here’s a side view of the holly easel card.
Stamp Set: TAC Holly Jolly (PWP stamp set)
Paper: Kraft, Scarlet, Dark Green
Ink: Palette Moulin Rouge and Giverney Green (black Micron pen, white Inkssentials gel pen, and Sakura stardust glitter pen also used)

I loved this card - Pat and I “mentally” tore it apart and made one in my girl cave the day I received it. How much fun it was. Love the Kraft CS and the green/red on this card.
Love easel cards, so fun!! Great job!
