Oh, I soooo was not going to sign up for the Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin monthly subscription. I want to know what I’m getting, not be surprised. But when the absolutely fabulous May 2015 kit was sneak-peeked for 24 hours, I caved and signed so I could get THAT kit (and also get past kits as supplies allow)! The kit makes 6 cards and 4 gift bags which are cute and perfectly designed … but it’s the alternate designs posted on Pinterest and Splitcoast Stampers that encouraged me to branch out from the original kit’s designs. I cut the striped card base and matted it to Island Indigo which was then adhered to a white card base (my preferred card design). After I stamped the ‘celebrate’ sentiment (doesn’t it look festive with the extra flourishes?), I adhered it to a scrap of Daffodil Delight cardstock and trimmed out a matted banner. The balloon diecut is the perfect size for the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment (and the card front) in general. I am now on the lookout for a similarly sized balloon die to make my own balloon embellishments.
The inside of the card is from the Big Day stamp set (SaleABration 2015) and of course my envelope was decorated – the balloon stamp is separate from the balloon string, so I was able to flip the string to create the middle stamped string. I like how the balloon colors overlap to emulate transparent balloons.
I made this card specifically to send to a soon-to-be 16 year old boy. His mother requested via social media for a card shower, and I am happy to oblige. This card was mailed today. I also made a few extra to put in this month’s SAS4kids box.
