I know I am not alone when I say I have a lot of patterned paper (DSP). I have some patterns from when I first started stamping in 2002 – and I’m still keeping those scraps for a rainy day…sigh. Thank goodness there are cardmakers who do use patterned paper and who share their inspiration. Dawn Olchefske posted this card on her blog and I knew I’d be able to use up even the smallest scraps of my DSP.
Send A Smile 4 Kids (SAS4kids) collects handmade cards (blank inside) for 15 Childrens Hospitals across the US. The cards are used by the nurses and staff to bring cheer to their 1 to 19 year old patients and their patients’ families. SAS4kids has two monthly challenges and the challenge I am submitting this card for is their Anything 4 Kids. What kid (or adult) doesn’t thrill when seeing a stack of presents topped with a big bow. I have a girlie version and a boyish version.
The bottom gift is 3″ wide by 1.25″ high and its lid is 3.25″ wide by 0.25″ high. The top gift is 2.75″ wide by 1.25″ high and its lid is 3″ wide by 0.25″ high. I used my MISTI and a retired SU! stamp set to stamp the sentiment just below the stacked presents. The bow is made using the SU! bow builder punch. To keep the bow poufy, I stuffed each side with cotton pulled from a cotton ball. These cards are not intended to be mailed but to be hand-delivered to the patients at one of the childrens’ hospitals who benefit from the SAS4kids volunteer efforts. But because I did stuff the bow with cotton, the cards could be mailed.
